How Do You Remove Old Wallpaper?
You need to be extra careful with tiny house and RV wallpaper as it’s not identical to what you’d use in a bigger place. They’re often installed on the vehicle’s interior panelling and might be heat bonded to the plywood. A vinyl protective strip covers the seams, which can make it hard to remove. In these instances, you should paste the new wallpaper over the top of the old material.
If you don’t have this problem, you can remove the old wallpaper by using a steamer to help peel back the vinyl’s top layer. This is the easiest way to separate it from the walls. You might still see some glue on the wall, but you’ll be able to scrape this off.
How Do You Apply Wallpaper to Your Tiny House or RV?
Now the walls are ready for your brand-new wallpaper, it’s time to start applying it.
• Begin by placing some putty over any dents or holes in the wall. You’re going to want a smooth surface for your wallpaper, and you don’t want any bubbles popping up later.
• Once your putty has set, sand it back to ensure the surface is perfectly smooth.
• Next, brush down a thin coat of primer on the wall. This will help ensure you don’t have any issues laying down the wallpaper, and it’s not going to roll as you try to apply it.
• Now put your glue on the back of the wallpaper. Use your roller or brush to apply it, and make sure it’s a thick coat.
• Place the wallpaper on the wall and smooth it out using a flat instrument like a ruler or smooth wood piece.
• If you have any excess paper sticking out, trim it back using the box cutter and scissors.
